FALL FENDER SALE!!

This last spring, as soon as I had finished the latest round of treatment, I spent several months spreading my shop into a little more space. Or more accurately, two spaces. One for wood and one for metal. Fast Boy Cycles started as Fast Boy Fenders about 6 years ago, while I was still teaching dance. I wasn't doing any metal work at all.. just fenders. When I started to build bike frames, the fenders went the way of the dodo, because I simply didn't have the space. Wood and metal work don't mix very well! I was not set up in such a way that it is possible to do both. I am now, however!

I will be producing runs of fenders in a fairly steady, but part time manner. I will sell them in batches. If you're on the FBC e-mail list, you'll be notified when a sale goes live. I imagine that there will be 3 or 4 sales a year. If you are not on the list yet, the sign up form is at the bottom of this page.

For this first go around, I am offering only full fenders. I know that the ez-ons have been a popular item in the past, and maybe next run I'll include some. (stubbies in the future again as well).

If you are interested in the process, I shot a quick little video about my fender production.

Flavors: They come in two flavors. Light and Dark Nascar (I think you can see which is which). The woods are maple and cherry.

Sizes: They come in two sizes! 700c and 26". I made a bending jig for 26" because I was building a number of 26" touring bikes, and most fenders available for the size (honjos, etc) are made to accommodate rather fatter tires than I wanted to use. These work great with tires up to 42mm or so. Front fenders are +/- 27" and rears are +/- 40". They are about 1 5/8" wide (+/-44mm) .

Hardware: They come with Honjo style struts and the hardware you need to mount the struts to the fenders and the bike.

They do NOT come with mounting provisions for the front of the front fender. What goes on at the fork crown is different enough from bike to bike that trying to provide that bit of hardware would result in a fair amount of waste. All sorts of solutions are available at veloorange.com, and you can choose the one that best suits your situation.

If that all sounds like gobbledegook to you, please feel free to contact me at ezra@fastboycycles.com with your questions. Full fenders are always a little bit of a project to mount. I'm sure that most of you looking at this page are bike nerds who are probably up to the task! If you don't count yourself in that club, perhaps you have a friend who does! or at least a good local bike shop that you trust. And for those of you living in NYC, I'm happy to mount them for you for a minimal fee.

Cost: Full fender sets are $150 + $15 for domestic shipping and handling.
